How to Live Abiding in Christ When Tempted

“Therefore submit to God.  Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.  Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” 

James 4:7-8

“Therefore Submit to God.”

"Say, "God, I want and choose to love you, trust you, and cheerfully obey your voice through your power.

“Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

Say “Get Behind Me Satan!”

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”

Sing a hymn, read His Word, praise Him, thank Him for His victory.

“Cleanse your hands, you sinners.”

Get rid of everything associated with the sinful habit.  Cleanse your home and everything you own.

“Purify your hearts, you double-minded.”

Do not be double-minded by thinking about sin and God.  We act out what we think.  Choose to reject all thoughts of sin at first thought, and "bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5) think only God's truth and God's love.
